Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data QuackScreen collects, why, and what we do with it. We try to keep it short. If anything is unclear, email app@quackscreen.com.

The short version

• Your recordings and screenshots stay on your Mac. QuackScreen never uploads them. We don't have a server-side copy and we don't want one.
• We collect the minimum we need to sell you a license and email you the key: your email address and Stripe payment details.
• We use Stripe, Appgram, Resend, and Cloudflare as data processors. We don't sell or share data for advertising.

What we collect

When you buy a license

Stripe processes payment on its hosted checkout page. We never see your full card number. From Stripe we receive: your email address, a Stripe customer/session ID, plan name, and price paid. We use that to mint a license key and email it to you.

When the app activates a license

QuackScreen sends a hardware device fingerprint (a UUID generated locally by macOS) and your license key to our licensing API so we can verify the key, count active devices, and issue an entitlement token. We do not collect your name, location, or any identifier beyond what's in the license.

When you contact support

If you email us we keep the thread so we can help. We delete support emails 24 months after they're resolved unless you ask sooner.

What we do not collect

• Recordings, screenshots, or anything you capture in the app.
• Microphone audio or camera frames.
• Analytics on what you record or how long you record.
• Crash reports unless you opt in inside the app.

Who we share with

We use a small number of third-party processors. They handle data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

• Stripe — payment processing. stripe.com/privacy
• Appgram — license issuance and end-user directory. appgram.dev
• Resend — transactional emails (your license key, receipts). resend.com/legal/privacy-policy
• Cloudflare — site hosting, edge KV storage, and the licensing API runtime. cloudflare.com/privacypolicy

We don't sell personal data and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep things

• License records — for as long as the license is active.
• Post-purchase license reveal entry (used to show your key on the success page once) — 24 hours.
• Idempotency keys mapping Stripe sessions to licenses — 1 year.
• Support email — up to 24 months after resolution.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Email app@quackscreen.com from the address tied to your license and we'll handle it within 30 days. Deletion of your license record is permanent and revokes the key.

Children

QuackScreen isn't aimed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we make material changes we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify license-holders by email. Continuing to use QuackScreen after a change means you accept the updated policy.
