Terms of Service

Effective June 18, 2026

These are the terms you accept when you install or buy QuackScreen ("the app"). We've kept them short and in plain language. If anything is unclear, email app@quackscreen.com.

License

When you buy a QuackScreen license you get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the app on up to two Macs you personally own or control. License keys are tied to you — please don't share them. We may revoke a key we believe has been shared, resold, or otherwise misused.

Free trial

QuackScreen ships with a free trial. You can use the trial features without buying a license. Some features unlock only after activating a paid license.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe (via our payment provider). Prices are listed in USD on the pricing page. Taxes, if applicable, are calculated at checkout.

Refunds

If QuackScreen doesn't do what you expected, reply to your receipt email within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund you. No questions, no forms. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. Refunded licenses are revoked.

Updates

A lifetime license includes all current and future updates for the app under the same product name. If we ever release a major successor product under a different name, that may be a separate purchase. We'll be clear about which is which.

What you can't do

  • Resell, sublicense, or distribute QuackScreen or your license key.
  • Reverse engineer or tamper with the license system, the entitlement signature, or the in-app activation flow.
  • Use QuackScreen to record content you don't have the right to record, including other people's screens without their consent.
  • Use QuackScreen to violate the law in your jurisdiction.

Your recordings

You own everything you record or capture with QuackScreen. The app stores your recordings locally on your Mac — we don't see them and we don't claim any rights over them.

No warranty

QuackScreen is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it working but we don't promise it's bug-free, never crashes, or will perfectly preserve every recording. Always keep backups of important captures.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost data, lost recordings, or lost time — arising from your use of QuackScreen. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the license in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using QuackScreen and delete it at any time. We can suspend or terminate a license that violates these terms. If we terminate for misuse, you don't get a refund.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date at the top and, for material changes, notify license-holders by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
